2021 sees the 100th anniversary of the birth of one Scotland’s most revered authors, the Orkney-born George Mackay Brown.

He was a poet, a novelist, and very much a short story writer.And in his latter years he was commissioned every Christmas by the Herald and the Tablet to write an original short story suitably themed for the time of year. Many of these have never been published before in book form, so are collected here for the first time together with other stories that he wrote with a seasonal background.

The result is a literary feast and a most suitable celebration of this great writer, whose voice is entirely unique.
