Utagawa Kunisada, Kawarazaki Gonjûrô I (Ichikawa Danjûrô IX) making up in a mirror, 1861
This unusual print depicts the famous kabuki actor Kawarazaki Gonjûrô transforming himself before going on stage. Kunisada created several woodblock prints showing the actor performing different dramatic roles.
