Tremor of Intent

Dennis Hillier is a British agent who has been sent to Russia to repatriate a defecting scientist, Edwin Roper, a man who just happens to have been Hillier’s best friend at school. It will be his last job before retirement.

The mission, however, turns out to be anything but simple. On a cruise ship bound for Russia, a narrative unfolds that contains every element of the best spy fiction: action, intrigue, sex… but with Burgess’s unique sense of humour and absurdity binding it all together.
